"you can't win at everything, but you can laugh at everything" - Robert Killinger

Hello! I'm Jo Eadie

And I'm learning to laugh more. I never realised how little I laughed until I went to a Laughter Yoga event. At the end of 60 minutes of laughing non-stop, I realised that this was probably more than I had laughed all year. Did you know that as children we laugh 300 times a day - but that most adults laugh only fiteen times a day? So I set out to find out how to reclaim my missing 285 laughs.

This has been a wild ride for me, that began with a training course with the UK Laughter Network, and has culminated in a new career bringing laughter to the world. I've come to realise that laughter and happiness are skills: you can develop them, expand them, pick up new tips, make them grow. And where I used to think that the way to becomes happier was to put all my energy into trying to clear away my unhapppiness  (journals, therapists, deep introspection) now I think that for many of us the trick to getting happier lies in learning to practice happiness more often, more regularly, more consciously.

Which is why I teach routes into happiness. At the moment this includes:

* Running  the  Milton Keynes Laughter Club, where anyone can drop in to learn how to laugh more. more>

* Teaching regular courses on happiness skills. more>

* Arranging laughter workshops for a range of organisations with an interest in lifting the mood, including The Open University, Barnardo's, the Healthy Schools programme, and local health support groups such as Nottingham Dyslexia and The Northants Active Ageing Network.

* I also have a special interest in developing gentle laughter sessions for people with M.E. more>

the laughter network ...

The Laughter Network is the UK's only professional training and development orgnaisation for those of us teaching laughter.

Its members are spread around the UK - so if you know of someone who needs laughter work in their area, there may well be someone there that you can contact.

Robin Graham (Manchester) , Julie Whitehead (London) and Joe Hoare (Bristol) run the Laughter Facilitation training courses which first brought me into this line of work - well worth doing if you want to find out more about laughter. They also all run laughter sessions in their home towns.

Lotte Mikkelsen is based in St Albans and runs Laughter Yoga Leader Training courses, with the focus on Dr Kataria's laughter technique

I've also been lucky enough to meet Leela , Carrie and Kit  (based in London), Lisa (based near Chichester) and Patrick (based in Stroud), all of whom I'd be happy to recommend if you are in that neck of the woods.
